Blu-ray movie still has letter box bars on a HDTV why is that?
I'm using a HDTV and today bought a new Blu-ray player and a couple of movies. Expecting too see the whole movie on my HDTV and there are those bars across the top and bottom. Now why is that? Twilight movies some of the scenes on the Blu-rays use my entire HDTV screen then when it plays the movie there are bars. Grrrrrr. I bought avatar and it used my whole screen and it is a regular DVD what is up with that?
Video recording is not a set standard. Many movies are displayed at "scope" 2.35:1 (47:20) which doesn't match up with your "widescreen" 1.78:1 (16:9) screen. Others, such as Avatar, are presented in widescreen.
