I have a dell xps 400 and I can't open up windows it logs on and then back off how do i solve this problem.?

I assume that you computer shuts down as soon as you log on then try to get in to safe mode(Will work) and disable unwanted start up items
by Start-->Run-->msconfig.Now restart and check if the problem is over else repair it using windows disk as the virus might have already changed the registry
