Myself, I don't think I would pay more than $400, if that because most laptops on store shelves are beefer than that. In some cases you can get those for $500-$600 on sale. My laptop has what you have listed and more and my laptop is four years old! It should run the older sims games, and maybe the new ones. It really depends on your graphics card. My laptop is starting to be unable to play a lot of the higher graphic games because of the video card.
