Will a single parented family get the stimulus and $300 per child if the income is >$75K but <150K?
News summaries state that singles making up to $75k will get $600 and families making under $150K will get up to $1200, plus an additional $300 per dependant under age 17. I wonder if this package considers the income of a family with only one earner a "single" or a "family" as it pertains to awarding the stimulus. Can anyone advise?
Part of your confusion is the use of "family". Generally, you will be only in one category: "Single filer" or "married filing jointly". In the case of "married filing jointly", it is irrelevant whether it's the husband, the wife, or both who are earning income.
In other words, supposed you are married and, your partner works, you do not, you have two children, and your adjusted gross income total (as a couple) is under 150k but over 6k... then your rebate will be $1200 + $300x2 = $1800.
