I formatted my harddrive which also erased windows. I have a boot floppy but no cd-rom. Can i restore windows?
I'm about to freak out because I really want windows back. I have the boot floppy disk to get to the setup, but I don't have the original cd-rom that came with it so I need to know if there is any other way to install windows 98 back. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.
If you reformatted the drive you will have to have a windows cd to install windows again.
The boot floppy is only used to tell the computer how to interact with the installation cd, you must have the cd to proceed.
If you have another computer with a decent internet connection google "linux mint download" and download the install image. Burn it to cd and you can install linux.
Free and works much better than windows 98
