is there an adapter for pcmcia cards to be used in the new express card slots on laptops?
I have a new Dell Inspiron 6400 and just got the Sierra 875 card from Cingular which won't work because it's PCMCIA! @*(@#)$(*@#)($*@#()$*)@#($*)@#($*@#()*()*@#$!!!! Flippin' people could have mentioned it or asked!...errrrr. Anyway, any info is appreciated!
You must purchase an ExpressCard 3G card. For Cingular I am aware of only one card--the Dell 5510 and it costs $220.00. See this link: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=313-4813
Since you probably signed at least a 1 year contract with Cingular, you probably can't cancel the service. But you have grounds for asking them to give your money back on the card.
You will still need a SIM card from Cingular to put into the Dell card.
Novatel is about to launch an adapter to allow an ExpressCard to work in a PCMCIA II (CardBus) slot, but there is nothing to adapt a CardBus into an ExpressCard slot.
