I have a IBM Lenovo Thinkpad R60, is there anything i can do to make it faster on the system or add hardware?
My IBM Lenovo Thinkpad R60 is very slow, when i add my ipod or mobile phone to it is sometimes freezer, however i am more worried about the fact that it just takes so long to load up. is there anything i can do?
Um... you have a fast laptop. I recommend using the recovery partition by pressing the recovery button or F11 (or some other key if it tells you in the boot or use Enter while it boots up and try each option) while it is turning on or booting up (the same thing).
You might have a virus or something make sure you have anti-virus software always.
Too late now anti-virus software doesn't really take and delete the virus after it gets in (that's what I hate about it it is supposed to but it just doesn't I use Norton I scan it and it finds it and fixes and deletes it but its still there)
Also if any websites tell you your infexcted and redirect you to a webpage where you have yo download and intall this anti-virus don't it's a trick they make you buy this software that tells you you have thousands of viruses (i'm exagerating)
The R60 has dedicated X1400 graphics (faster than Intel GPU solutions), 1GB of RAM, Core 2 Duo T2500 2GHz Processor (A little outdated (by like 2 to 3 years but still fast and 2006 is not old..... that's whne quad-core was introduced and Q6600 was introduced and 2007 too I mean just look at Transformers the movie)
Also upgrade your RAM to 2GB or 3GB. You are wasting your laptop by not giving it more RAM. If possible find a way to upgrade you CPU but it's only optional (not necessary just makes it faster by a large margin if you upgrade to the 65nm or better yet 45nm and faster clock processors)
You can reformat your whole system though it will take out everything in the hard drive meaning everything you have (don't worry get a external hard drive and back everything up or just a flash drive if you don't have much). Using recovery also reformats everything or sometimes backs them up in a partition but in most cases reformats and deletes everything. Lenovo's recovery system though includes a backup program that allows you to backup in the Lenovo Recovery enviroment instead of Windows and waiting for it to boot up.
You can either buy a Windows XP or Vista or 7 DVD (7 is downloadable for free its still in RC and not yet final release though stable) and install and reformat everything 9back up everything first)
or use the recovery partition if you still have it.
