There was a book entitled The Wind Done Gone that was supposed to be from the point of view of Scarlett’s mulatto slave half-sister Cynara. The author, Alice Randell, avoided using names and terms from the book but was sued by the estate of Margret Mitchell. I remember hearing about the case and the controversy behind it. The courts found in favor of the estate of Margaret Mitchell and Alice Randell was forced to donate an unspecified amount to an African American college fund. The book is available in stores but with an “unauthorized parody” seal.
