How do i turn the backlight off on my notebook?
Here are the specs - Gateway EC1803h (Refurbished) Notebook - Intel Core 2 Solo SU3500 1.4GHz, 11.6" WXGA LED back-lit, 3GB DDR2, 250GB HDD, Intel GMA 4500M, Wireless N, Webcam, 6-cell, Windows Vista Home Premium
It always appears too bright even when i turn the brightness down. I've tried messing with the graphics/color settings, but i keep having to adjust the angle for it to look right..i was thinking if i could shut off the backlight it may look much clearer, as my cellphone seems much clearer when its backlight is off.
I've seen some laptops "auto dim" when theres been no input for a certain amount of time..i thought perhaps this was the backlighting being shut off, perhaps i'm wrong
Your cellphone has a completely different kind of screen as compared to your laptop. Your cellphone screen is designed to be read without a backlight, just like an LCD calculator.
Your laptop screen is not designed to be read without a backlight. If you were to turn the backlight off somehow, you would not be able to read the screen at all.
I'm sorry that the screen is too bright. If you used the laptop in a well lit room, this would make the screen appear to be dimmer (as well as dimming the screen as much as possible).
